Installing Global Mapper

To download the latest version of Global Mapper, log into the Blue Marble Hub on the Blue Marble Geographics website and navigate to My License or My products.

Limited legacy versions are available on the Download page of the Blue Marble website.

Global Mapper can be installed Locally for each user or Globally for all users. The default is to install locally for each user, but using a global install may be beneficial for organizations looking to install the program so that Global Mapper may be accessed through multiple user accounts on the machine.

 

Advanced Installation

Silent Install:

The Global Mapper EXE install includes the following command line arguments:

Silent "<setup.exe> /s"

Log "<setup.exe> /l=<logfile.ext>"

  • Additional Silent Installs:

For DXF use DXFDWG=TRUE

For Python use PYTHON=TRUE

Example:
globalmapper.exe /s DXFDWG=TRUE python: PYTHON=TRUE

  • Global Install Commands:

UserPref=FALSE

ProfilePref=TRUE

Example:
globalmapper.exe /s UserPref=FALSE Profile Preference: ProfilePref=TRUE

 

Administrative Install:

Global Mapper is also available as an MSI File. This file is for administrative installation of Global Mapper for deployment across systems. This installer uses MSIExec, and the available options can be found here. Not all of these options are included. It does not support administrative installs. An example of a quiet install with no user interface would be:

"msiexec -i GlobalMapper.msi /qn"

 

Global Mapper Uninstall Commands:

Following along and replace necessary blocks with the proper paths to the file location of either .exe or .msi files located locally on your machine. Typically found at

msi: msiexec.exe /x <ProductCode_or_PathToMSI>

exe: <ProductCode_or_PathToEXE> /s MODIFY=FALSE REMOVE=TRUE UNINSTALL=YES

 

WebView2

Global Mapper uses WebView2 to open the Help documentation files in your preferred browser. On installation, Global Mapper will verify that this runtime can be found on the machine. In the rare case where WebView2 is not present on the machine, Global Mapper will download and install it from Blue Marble Geographic’s servers. This requires an internet connection.

 

Known Security Vulnerabilities

There are no known security vulnerabilities in the current version of Global Mapper.
