Using Vector Data

This section of the help files will show you how to complete the various calculations possible with the Calculator using most vector data types. Point Database and Seismic Survey jobs are discussed in separate sections.

All of the jobs in this category require a valid license for the Geographic Calculator.  Common tasks you may need to complete in Geographic Calculator with vector data are:

• Interactive (point to point) Coordinate Conversions: Convert a single point from one coordinate system to another.
• Interactive (point to point) Forward Calculations: Calculate a coordinate that is a specific distance and azimuth (heading) away from a known starting coordinate.
• Interactive (point to point) Inverse Calculations: Calculate the distance and azimuth (heading) between two locations.
• Vector Data Conversions: Convert vector data from one coordinate system to another.
• Area Calculation Job: Calculate area based on arbitrary boundary, where a polygon is defined by points.
• Line Intersection Job: Determine the point of intersection between two lines, where each line is defined by a pair of points.
• Land Survey Summary Job: Process Land Survey System Coordinates to create a printable survey summary of geodesic and projected information about each point in the list.
