Restoring Archived Workspaces

When upgrading an installation of Geographic Calculator to a new version you have the option to upgrade or replace your existing files. Replaced files are saved on your machine and must be manually restored into order to be used. Here is the list of steps to follow in order to restore old production data and workspaces:

1. Remove the previous version of Geographic Calculator and install the new version if you haven't already.

   This assumes you have chosen to "Replace" files and have the "Archive Workspace" or “Archive a cop of previous files” option selected.

2. After installing the new version, the archived workspace saved in this path, based on your version number. This path will also be provided when the archived copy is generated:

   C:\ProgramData\Blue Marble Geographics\Geographic Calculator x64\Archive\Pre(Geographic Calculator VERSION 64-bit)

3. In the Archive folder you should see two dated zip files, one for workspace and another for data.

   

4. Extract the contents of each zip file, keeping them in unique folders.

5. Copy the contents of the workspace folder to C:\ProgramData\Blue Marble Geographics\Geographic Calculator x64

   When prompted, selected Yes to replace the existing files of the same name that are already in that location.

6. Copy the contents of the data folder to C:\ProgramData\Blue Marble Geographics\Geographic Calculator x64\DataSource\

   When prompted, selected Yes to replace the existing files of the same name that are already in that location. This will overwrite 4 geodata* files and an esricustom.xml file.

7. Move the .apx file (C:\ProgramData\Blue Marble Geographics\Geographic Calculator x64\DataSource\Geographic Calculator.apx)
   to: C:\ProgramData\Blue Marble Geographics\Geographic Calculator x64\Geographic Calculator.apx

8. At this point, you should be able to open your new installation and see your old workspace with settings.
