Opening an unlicensed version of Global Mapper prompts the License Manager to appear. The License Manager can also be accessed via the Help menu.
Internet is required to license Global Mapper subscriptions. If you encounter an error, check your firewall settings.
Follow these steps:
-
In the License Manager, click Log In...
-
Your default browser will open a page that allows you to log in to your Blue Marble account with your individual email address and password.
-
If you cannot log into your Blue Marble account, follow the steps to reset your password if needed, or reach out to your organization's license administrator.
-
-
Your browser will confirm successful authentication, meaning you have logged in your Blue Marble account successfully. Your email, name, and organization will display in the License Manager under Signed In Account, and you will be able to use Manage Account.
-
If a license is available to you, the software will register and you will see the product and subscription tier listed in the License Manager window.
-
If no license was found for your account, a pop-up warning will appear, and the product status will read "Unlicensed" in the License Manager. If no license is found, please contact your organization administrator (or another user in your organization who has Blue Marble Hub admin privileges). Only Hub users with admin status can invite new users to your account and assign/revoke license seats.
-
Manage Account... - After logging in, click here to navigate to the Blue Marble Geographics Hub, where you can see any licenses that have been assigned to you. If you are an administrator for your organization, you can invite or remove users, assign seats (under Manage > Users), and manage billing.
Log Out - Click here to log out of your individual account. Logging out is recommended if you share a machine with other users. It also releases your seat of Global Mapper, so that you can use your license on a different machine. However, it is not required to log out on the current machine; you will be able to release the seat when you log in on a different machine.

Offline License Options
Check out Roaming License... - Click here to use your Global Mapper license offline. If your machine goes offline without checking out a roaming license, your Global Mapper will become unlicensed within a few minutes. If your internet connection is unstable, it is recommended to check out a roaming license.
You will need to choose a Borrow End Date, at which point you will have to connect to the internet again to re-check out the license or use online. The maximum borrow period is 30 days; if you need more time offline, contact your account manager. The license cannot be moved to a different machine while roaming offline; you will need to connect to internet and return the license if you wish to move it to a different machine. When the user has a borrowed (offline) license that expires in less than 14 days, a popup warning will display upon launch of the program.
Return License - After checking out a roaming license, use this option to return the license early. This enables you log in on any online machine and use your Global Mapper license.
Note: If your machine goes offline without checking out a roaming license, a pop-up warning will let you know the license has been lost. If you close out of the pop-up and License Manager, Global Mapper will shut down, but you will have to option to save changes to your workspace. If you wait for internet connection to return, the license will be returned to you, and you will be able to continue using the application.
