Oblique Equal Area Cylindrical – Global Mapper

The Equal-Area Cylindrical projection represents an orthographic projection of a sphere onto a cylinder. This oblique variation provides the same cylindrical representation, but is generally used for areas that are extended obliquely. Distortion on this projection is reduced along the tangent line running between the first and second defining parallel and meridian tie points.
